Aiming towards a discovery can be very challenging! Lots of issues that you don’t expect can crop up; you can’t get funding, it can take a loooooong time to start a project, samples might not be right, your equipment can break, you might lose your data on the computer, you might get negative results! But all of these things teach you resilience (which is vital for being a scientist) and are also learning opportunities to prepare you for your next project.

My biggest challenge at the moment is getting my work done with all my other commitments and with my children being off school poorly! As Natalie quite rightly says, it certainly teaches you to be resilient and not give up!
