  Ganymede has been seen by humans for a very long time. The first humans who saw Ganymede (and recorded the discovery) were likely from China around 365 BE – over 2000 years ago! Ganymede was likely seen by accident. Because Solar System planets/moons are quite close to us, they can often be seen moving quickly through a strange path in the night sky, so they pique curiosity from any humans who saw them. I suspect this is how Ganymede is discovered!
