So My PhD focuses on the magnetic field produced by Jupiter’s moon Ganymede. Because Ganymede has a magnetic field, plasma (very hot gas) from Jupiter must flow around the moon as if the moon has a big shield in front of it. However, I discovered that Ganymede’s magnetic shield likely has many cracks through which Jupiter’s plasma can flow into the moon, which suggests that the shield is not so good at protection after all!

I found out that drinking even small amounts of acidic drinks (like fizzy drinks) can cause damage to your tooth enamel by eroding it in as little as 10s. So in people who don’t make saliva very well, they need to use the right toothpaste to reduce this happening. In normal healthy people, your saliva does the protective job just fine.

I haven’t made discoveries. I’m not really a Eureka scientist! I spend time making looking into whether certain treatments work well for specific patients and how we can improve the machines that we use at the minute.
